They grow up so fast
by Josh Harold
August 16, 2008

Just months ago, Jeremy Cordell and Travis Sutton were wrapping up their respective junior
careers at Rainbow Lanes.  The two are very good friends, and they bowled their way to a junior
league team championship in their final season.  Hopes were high for the two entering adult
bowling, but nobody could have predicted what would happen in the first week.
On August 14, Travis Sutton rolled a perfect 300 in the Columbus Railroad league en route to a 691
series—his first series as an adult bowler.  Going in to the tenth frame, Travis and his teammates
attempted to relieve the pressure by joking around and singing silly songs.  As he started his
approach, all eyes were on Sutton.  He threw what seemed to be an errant shot, but got a lucky hit on
a Brooklyn strike.  The last two shots were perfect, and Travis rejoiced with his close friends.  It was
the first perfect game of his career.  Just two days later, Jeremy too would flirt with perfection.
In the first week of the Kings and Queens league on August 16, Cordell entered his first adult winter
league.  His first nine shots were flawless.  Entering the tenth frame, Cordell joked with friends that
he didn’t want to throw the same kind of shot that Sutton had on his tenth attempt.  As he let go of his
ball, there was no doubt that it was a strike.  On his eleventh shot, however, irony took center stage
as Jeremy got a shot to the left and carried a Brooklyn strike.  The final ball was perfect.  Cordell
finished with a 693 series, wrapping up a spectacular introduction to the new season for the two.

Bobby Holiday Hits Big At
Rainbow Lanes

Bobby Holiday had his day made on Monday the 6th when he rolled strike number 15 in his third
game. This may not sound like a lot of strikes to the regular league bowler, but if check the strikes
needed in the
STRIKE POT  at the center you will see the reason for his day being made. Bobby hit the
strike pot for
$4,975.00. The strike pot was last hit on October 5th 2007 and has been building ever
since. All regular league bowlers are eligible to get in the strike pot when they are bowling in their
leagues or subbing in a league at Rainbow Lanes. It only costs $1.00 to get in the pot and shoot for
whatever is in the pot that day. Bobby bowls in 5 leagues this season and subs in 1 other league. He
gets in the strike pot in every league and Monday the 6th will be one league night that he won't forget for
a long time. He will have the bragging rights until someone hits the next strike pot. The
STRIKE POT  will
start over on the 7th at $300.00 and will continue to climb until someone hits it the next time.

COULD IT BE YOU AND HOW BIG WILL THE NEXT STRIKE POT BE?
